Zygomatic implants in Turkey: what you need to know
After many years without teeth — or after long-term denture wear and gum disease — the upper jawbone can shrink so much that conventional implants have nothing to hold on to. The classic answer is extensive bone grafting, which can add many months and a separate operation to the treatment.
Zygomatic implants take a different route. They are considerably longer than standard implants and are anchored in the zygomatic bone (cheekbone), which remains dense even when the jaw has receded. Usually two zygomatic implants are combined with two to four conventional implants at the front to carry a fixed full-arch bridge.
This is an advanced surgical procedure. It is planned in 3D in great detail and carried out by a surgeon with specific experience, usually under sedation or general anaesthesia.

How the 3D planning works
The CBCT scan of the whole midface is loaded into planning software. The surgeon plans each implant's path from the palate to the cheekbone, keeping a safe distance from the eye socket and sinus walls. This plan is reviewed with you, including the expected result and the specific risks.

Is the procedure safe?
Zygomatic implants are an established technique with good long-term results when planned carefully and performed by experienced surgeons. As with any surgery there are risks, which your surgeon will explain in detail during your consultation.
Will I have swelling?
Swelling and some bruising around the cheeks are normal for several days. That is why we plan a slightly longer first stay so you can rest in comfort before flying home.
How do I know if I need zygomatic implants?
Only a 3D scan can tell. Send us your existing scan or X-ray and a dentist will tell you whether conventional implants, All-on-4 or zygomatic implants are realistic in your case.
Are zygomatic implants visible from the outside?
No. They run inside the bone from the upper jaw to the cheekbone and are not visible or palpable from outside.
How common are zygomatic implants?

Can zygomatic implants be used in the lower jaw?
