Overview

E.max crowns in Turkey: what you need to know

E.max is a lithium disilicate glass-ceramic. Its crystal structure lets light pass through and scatter much like natural enamel, which makes E.max crowns hard to distinguish from real teeth — especially in the upper front area, where every detail is visible.

E.max crowns are adhesively bonded to the tooth, which adds to their strength. They are often combined with veneers in a smile makeover: veneers on healthier teeth, E.max crowns on teeth that are heavily filled or root-treated, all in exactly the same material and shade.

In-depth guide

Why E.max looks so natural

Natural enamel is partly translucent: light enters the tooth, scatters and returns, which gives teeth depth. Lithium disilicate behaves similarly. In addition, the technician can build up the incisal edge with more translucency and add subtle colour effects by hand, so that the crown blends in next to natural teeth.

E.max and root-treated front teeth

A root-treated front tooth can darken over time. If the discolouration is mild, an E.max crown gives the best aesthetics. If the tooth is very dark, the dentist may first bleach it internally or choose a slightly more opaque material so that the colour does not shine through.

Bonding protocol

E.max crowns are bonded rather than simply cemented. The tooth surface is conditioned, kept completely dry with isolation, and the crown is attached with a resin cement. This creates a strong unit between tooth and ceramic.

FAQ

E.max crowns in Turkey: FAQ

Answers about E.max crowns.

Are E.max crowns suitable for back teeth?

For single premolars they can be, but for molars and bridges zirconia is usually the safer choice because of the higher chewing forces.

Will E.max crowns match my veneers?

Yes. Using the same material family for crowns and veneers makes it easier to achieve one consistent shade across your smile.

E.max or zirconia for my front teeth?

For single upper front teeth, E.max usually gives the most natural result. If the underlying tooth is very dark, a zirconia-based crown may mask it better.

Can I get E.max crowns and zirconia crowns in the same smile?

Yes — E.max at the front, zirconia at the back is a very common and sensible combination. Shades are matched between both materials.
